Role in a Bag is used to introduce a character through artifacts belonging to that person. Students remove items from a bag that reveals information about the character. Each item is a clue that, taken together, helps students build a story about the person’s life. The objects in the bag (or on someone’s desk, or in a storage box) can help establish time and place, the person’s occupation, family connections, and/or a situation that they are in. It provides a context which can be followed by students entering the scene using drama.
